The Plant of the Month vote is our monthly celebration of the houseplants you love most. Each August we line up four standout indoor plants, and you decide which one deserves the crown. Cast your vote in the bracket above, watch the live results update in real time, and come back as often as you like to back your favourite.

Voting takes about thirty seconds. Pick the prettier plant in each head-to-head match, keep going until one winner remains, and your choice is added to the community tally straight away. There are no sign-ups and no fuss, just a quick, friendly way to share which leaf has stolen your heart this month.

Meet August’s Eight Contenders

This month’s Plant of the Month line-up brings together eight very different beauties, from bold variegation and glossy bonsai charm to trailing wax plants and coin-leaved curiosities.

Chinese Evergreen is the quiet achiever of the group, with painted leaves in silver, cream and deep green that keep their pattern even in a shady corner. If its low-light good looks win your vote, our Chinese Evergreen care guide covers the light, watering and humidity it needs to thrive.

Golden Pothos is the easygoing crowd-pleaser, trailing cheerful heart-shaped leaves splashed with gold. It is one of the most forgiving plants you can grow, and our Pothos care guide shows just how simple it is to keep lush.

Ficus Bonsai brings sculptural, tree-like elegance to the contest, with its characterful trunk and tidy canopy. Tempted to grow your own miniature tree? Start with our Ficus Bonsai care guide.

Philodendron Pink Princess rounds out the four with her famous bubble-gum pink variegation, a true collector’s favourite. You can see her alongside other rosy houseplants in our pink indoor plants gallery.

Hoya Flamingo is a charming trailing wax plant, loved for its deep, sun-blushed foliage and clusters of star-shaped flowers. If its rosy leaves catch your eye, our Hoya Flamingo care guide walks you through light, watering and coaxing it into bloom.

Pilea, better known as the Chinese Money Plant, is famous for its quirky round, coin-like leaves on slender upright stems. It is wonderfully easy to grow and quick to share through pups, and our Pilea care guide covers everything from light to propagation.

Philodendron Birkin stands out with glossy dark leaves streaked in crisp creamy-white pinstripes, an elegant, self-heading plant that adds quiet drama to any shelf. To keep those stripes bright and stable, see our Philodendron Birkin care guide.

Hoya Kerrii, the Sweetheart Plant, charms with thick, heart-shaped succulent leaves that make it a much-loved gift. Whether you grow a single leaf or a full trailing vine, our Hoya Kerrii care guide shows how to keep it thriving.

How the Plant of the Month Vote Works

The Plant of the Month vote runs as a simple knockout bracket. The eight contenders battle through three knockout rounds, each match knocking one plant out, until a single champion remains. Every completed bracket counts as one vote, so the more rounds you play, the more your favourite climbs the chart.

Results are shown live beneath the widget, updating the moment a vote lands. You can reopen the bracket and vote again whenever you like, which keeps the leaderboard lively all month long. If you would like some background, you can read more about the wider world of houseplants and how they became a modern obsession.

Why We Run a Plant of the Month Vote

Beyond the fun, our Plant of the Month vote helps us learn what you want to read about next. The plants that win, and even those that narrowly miss out, often inspire our upcoming care guides and growing tips. Your votes shape the blog, so every tap genuinely matters.

Check back at the start of each month for a fresh line-up of contenders. Whether you are a seasoned collector or just bringing home your first leafy friend, the Plant of the Month vote is your chance to champion the houseplants that make your space feel alive.
